'Field Studies: Roker' is the first instalment in a series of field recording releases by Farnham-based musician and performer, Slow Clinic. Over the years, field recordings have been used as an accompaniment to pieces of music, or as brief interludes; however, 'Field Studies: Roker' brings the recorded soundscapes into focus, as raw and untouched as when they were captured.

Roker is a costal area of Sunderland in the North East of England. Despite the regions many hardships, Roker remains a popular attraction to locals and visitors alike. These field recordings capture the sounds heard during a fragmented walk from one end of the beach to the other, and document the beach during a busy period in the Summer of 2017.

I stumbled upon this whilst sampling bits and pieces of the WhiteLab label on Bandcamp, and I’m delighted I did. Absolute killer record. Guitar driven with synth washes and detailing. As a guitar player myself I can see myself noodling along to this. Very cool indeed Anthony Davies
